The Dallas City City Council held its regular meeting at 5 p.m. Mayor Kevin Six called the meeting to order with the following commissioners present: Harold Northup Jr., and Greg Olson. Carole McDowell was absent.

A motion was made by Olson, and 2nd by Northup to accept the minutes of the March 10, 2021, meeting. Northup, Olson, and Six AYE. McDowell ABSENT.

Anne Thompson asked about the windows and doors at the old high school building. The city attorney reported that she is working on this.

Sheryl Clark appeared on behalf of Clark Storage and asked when the city is going to get their storage building that is partially on Clark Storage's property moved. Also discussed the fences that are going to have to be moved. The city attorney is working on getting a survey done to verify Clark Storage's survey results. If the city's survey agrees with Clark Storage's, the city will get it moved as soon as possible.

Blake Rea requested that a street light be installed in front of his property at 670 East First Street. The city will check on this. The council then discussed this request more. The council's main concern is that if this street light is added, then how many other residents will be requesting street lights in front of their property.

Mayor Six reported that Mike Dill has agreed to make a new table for the city hall for the council. The cost would be $1800. A motion was made by Olson, and 2nd by Northup to hire Mike Dill to build a new table for city hall for the council for $1800. Northup, Olson, and Six AYE. McDowell ABSENT.

Mayor Six has contacted Jackson Disposal regarding spring clean-up days and the dates that they have dumpsters available. A motion was made by Olson, and 2nd by Northup to have spring clean-up days on April 16-19. Northup, Olson, and Six AYE. McDowell ABSENT.

Mayor Six has contacted Ameren Illinois regarding the utility pole at city hall. He spoke to a different person this time, and this person gave him different answers and said that he needed additional information. Mayor Six will call again with the required information and see what he can find out.

Discussed running an ad to take bids for the sale of the table currently being used for the council at the city hall.

The city attorney discussed the rough draft of a proposed ordinance to authorize abatement of nuisances by the city. This ordinance would give the city the right to go onto a property to take care of a nuisance and then bill the property owner for doing this. The city would first issue the property owner a nuisance notice, and then take such action if the property owner does not abate the nuisance. This will be discussed more at the next meeting.

A motion was made by Northup, and 2nd by Olson to adjourn the meeting. Northup, Olson, and Six AYE. McDowell ABSENT.

The meeting was adjourned at 5:48 p.m. Steven K Vorhies, City Clerk
