City of Bushnell City Council Met March 25.

Here is the minutes provided by the council:

Mayor Wilt called the meeting to order.

The Pledge of Allegiance to the Flag was given. 

Roll Call

Treasurer

*City Treasurer Dan Cortelyou stated that all the signature cards for the bank accounts are ready to be signed.

Consent Agenda

Ald. Lorton made a motion to approve the consent agenda, which included the following items:

1.  Approval of Minutes from April 19, 2021

2.  Approve March Financial Report

3.  Approve and Pay April bills

Ald. Coates seconded the motion with the results as follows:

Where upon Mayor Wilt declared the motion carried.

Ad Hoc (Mayor’s Report)

*Mayor Wilt thanked Ald. M Howell and Ald. Glisan for 20 and 8 years respectfully as serving as alderpersons.

*Mayor Wilt thanked Dan Cortelyou for his 36 years as City Treasurer. Dan did a great job and will be missed.  Thanks Dan!!

 Personnel/Finance/Budget

*Ald. Glisan stated that they have received quite a few applications for the Utility Manager and Electric department openings. They will be getting together with the Utility Board to Do interviews in the near future.

Public Works-Street/Sewer/Alley

*Ald. C Howell stated that the judge had capped the pipeline suit at 5% and gave 30 days to appeal.

*Next meeting  Thursday May 13, 2021 @ 3:00 police complex.

Police/Liquor/ESDA

*Activity report for the month of April.

*Next meeting will be Monday May 10, 2021 4:00 at the Complex.

*Police Chief Fosdyck stated they are still in need of crossing guards for the May playdays.

Real Estate/Parks/Recreation

*Ald. Coates stated that she has got all the paperwork done and sent in to National Able Network for Mary White to get started cleaning the Rec. Center.

*Ald. Coates stated there are a few problems at the rec center and is going to have Ace Hardware go out and fix them.

*Coates stated there was a leak in the roof above the kitchen that will have to be addressed.

*Coates stated that she had a call from Paige McCord from the Rotary Club about staining the play equipment in the East Park. The Interact Club is going to do that on May 8, 2021.

*Amendment to Liquor License Ordinance. The proposed amendment would allow people

  To have events at the rec center and have alcohol. The proposed amendment would be a Class I liquor license to sell liquor on government property. No longer than 8 hours at a time.\ Must be a representative from the government on premises. Must carry dram shop insurance  And sell food.

Engineering

*Megan Crook from IMEG stated that the well drillers are back.

*Crook said they are working on maps for oil & chip.

MAEDCO

*Kim Pierce of MAEDCO stated that the CEO Trade Show was going to be held May 4, 2021 at The Spoon River College from 5:00 to 7:00.

*McDonough County businesses are working on a high school job fair.

Contracts

*Nothing to report

Attorney’s Report/Ordinances & Resolutions

*City Attorney Chuck Laegeler stated he had been in touch with Stoneking and they would Be starting the demolition on the Patty Sullivan property in mid to late June.

Ald. Glisan made a motion to “Sine Die”. Ald. C Howell seconded the motion. A roll call vote was taken with the results as follows:

Where upon Mayor Wilt declared the motion carried.

Mayor Wilt swore in new City Clerk Teresa Ebbert

New City Clerk swore in Mayor Wilt, Newly elected Treasurer Betsy Rench and newly elected alderpersons, Greg Yocum, Stacey Allen, Kim Havens, Mike Baker, and Donna Coates.
