McDonough County Board Budget Finance Committee met Sept. 8.
Here are the minutes provided by the committee:
The monthly Finance Committee meeting was held at 6:00 p.m. The meeting was held at the McDonough County Courthouse, Law Library. Committee members present were Chair Travis Hiel, Vice Chair Larry Aurelio, Letha Clark, Dave Cortelyou, Mike Cox, Joe Erlandson, and Dave Nissen. Others in attendance included County Chair Scott Schwerer, County Clerk Gretchen DeJaynes, Judge Poncin, Sheriff Petitgout, Keith Krohe, Miranda Lambert, Stacey Alexander, and Patrick Stout.
Chair Hiel called the meeting to order at 6:00 p.m.
Review and Approve Minutes from August 11, 2021
Member Nissen moved with a second by Member Cortelyou to approve the minutes as submitted. Motion carried on a voice vote.
Judge Poncin
Judge Poncin gave a brief description of his budget. He discussed the Law Library fund and lack of funding and would like to move some expense to the General County Fund.
Miranda Lambert- Senior Transportation
Gave a report on their budget.
Nick Petitgout- Sheriff
FOP Contract is expected to be a 3.25% salary increase. The Sheriff is requesting a third full time security position rather than a part time position. Sheriff Petitgout also believes the body cams will cost $250,000.00 plus maintenance.
Nick Petitgout- Maintenance
Sheriff Petitgout ask for 2.5% increase for maintenance.
Insurance Update
Keith Krohe gave the insurance update to date. The committee would like him to figure a 3% and a 5% premium increase. The County has not raised there premiums for 4 or 5 years. The committee reported a widow of a retiree that was on the health insurance plan at the time the retirees passing will pay premium cost as a single retiree rate.
Gretchen DeJaynes- County Clerk
County Clerk DeJaynes gave an overview of the budget for the County Clerk’s office as well as the County funds.
Various Budget Requests
The Finance Committee agreed that for budgeting purposed we should use a 2% salary increase across the Board.
MCPT Report Review & Approval
The monthly request for August 2021 was reviewed. Member Erlandson moved with a second by Member Cortelyou to approve the MCPT Report in the amount of $973.50 for August 2021. Motion carried on a voice vote.
Bushnell Senior Meals Report Review & Approval
The monthly report for August 2021 from the YMCA for transportation of senior meals was reviewed. Member Clark moved with a second by Member Cortelyou to approve the August 2021 YMCA report in the amount of $1071.27. Motion carried on a voice vote.
Coroner Report
The monthly Coroner Report was received and filed.
Monthly Financial Reports
The monthly Financial Reports were received and filed.
Transfer of Funds
None.
Warrants Issued in Vacation
Member Clark moved with a second by Member Cortelyou to approve the Warrants Issued in Vacation. Motion carried on a voice vote.
Resolution AMEND FY 2021 McDonough County Budget
Member Erlandson moved with a second by Member Clark to send the Resolution AMEND FY 2021 McDonough County Budget to full Board to be approved.
Discuss ARPA Fund Action
ARPA Resolution being sent to full Board
Approval of Claims
Member Nissen moved with a second by Member Cortelyou to approve the Claims as submitted. Motion carried on a voice vote.
