Greenfield Community Unit School District No. 10 Board of Education met Nov. 15.

Here are the minutes provided by the board:

The Board of Education of Greenfield Community Unit School District No. 10 met in  regular session, in the Administrative Office. 

1. Board President Elliott Turpin called the regular meeting to order at 7:00 p.m. Upon roll  call members physically present were Josh Roberts, Chris Goode, Chris Weller, Brandi Rynders  and Elliott Turpin. Joe Kinser was absent. Also physically present were Superintendent Kevin  Bowman, Ron Plogger, Becky McClelland and Stephanie Vetter.  

2. Rynders motioned and Roberts seconded to approve the agenda as presented. Upon roll  call Weller, Rynders, Goode, Roberts, Garner and Turpin voted “Aye”. Motion carried. 

3. Goode motioned and Rynders seconded to approve the October 18, 2021 regular meeting minutes as presented. Upon roll call Roberts, Weller, Garner, Goode, Rynders and Turpin voted  “Aye”. Motion carried. 

4. Weller motioned and Goode seconded to approve the consent agenda as presented. Upon  roll call Garner, Rynders, Weller, Roberts, Goode and Turpin voted “Aye”. Motion carried.  (See Exhibit No. 1 attached to the Official Minutes) 

5. District Highlights – Dr. Bowman congratulated the literary students and Mrs. Meyer on  the successful Junior High Literary contest. The Literary Contest was held at North Greene on  October 30, 2021. Greenfield participants received 18 first places, 2 second places and 5 Judge’s  Choice Awards. Four students performed their skits before the BOE.  

6. Ron Plogger reported on Transportation/Facilities: 

-Dirt work in progress 

-HS Window Project is almost complete  

-HS Football Field Light Project is complete 

-Boiler pipe in elementary closet had issue while school was not in session and   has been fixed 

-Re-keying district doors will be done this summer 

-District office ceiling in progress 

-Elementary gutter has been repaired 

7. Elliott Turpin reported on the Greenfield Foundation for Educational Excellence. The  treasurer’s balance is $21,924.10. Two classroom mini-grants were approved. The raffle drawing  will be held at the next meeting on November 17, 2021.  

8. Dr. Bowman reviewed tentative tax levy numbers with the BOE. At this time, Dr.  Bowman does not feel a Truth-In-Taxation hearing will be necessary.

9. Dr. Bowman reported on: 

-Parent/Teacher Conferences 

-FRIS financial update from ISBE 

-Proposed 2022 Board Meeting dates (See Exhibit No. 2 attached to the Official  Minutes) 

-2021 Illinois District Report Card - both schools have Commendable status -Property Tax Relief Grant 

10. Dr. Bowman provided substitute teacher pay amounts for our district compared to  neighboring schools. He would like the BOE to approve increasing the district substitute teacher  pay effective 1/1/2022. (See Exhibit No. 3 attached to the Official Minutes) 

11. Personnel: Tracy Daley 3- year notice of retirement (See Exhibit No. 4 attached to the  Official Minutes). Abrial Grigsby resignation as the High School Assistant Cheer Coach. 

12. Opportunity for Citizens to Speak - Amber Range spoke about her concerns and read  from several sources regarding the current situation in Illinois regarding students in school being  mandated to wear masks. 

NO EXECUTIVE SESSIONS WAS HELD 

13. Roberts motioned and Rynders seconded to approve the proposed Board Meeting dates  for 2022. Upon roll call Rynders, Roberts, Garner, Goode, Weller and Turpin voted “Aye”.  Motion carried. (See Exhibit No. 2 attached to the Official Minutes) 

14. Roberts motioned and Rynders seconded to approve an increase in substitute teacher pay  effective 1/1/2022. Upon roll call Roberts, Garner, Goode, Weller, Rynders and Turpin voted  “Aye”. Motion carried. (See Exhibit No. 3 attached to the Official Minutes) 

15. Rynders motioned and Garner seconded to approve Tracy Daley’s 3- year notice of  retirement. Upon roll call Roberts, Goode, Weller, Rynders, Kinser and Turpin voted “Aye”.  Motion carried. (See Exhibit No. 4 attached to the Official Minutes) 

16. Rynders motioned and Weller seconded to approve the resignation of High School Assistant Cheer Coach Abrial Grigsby. Upon roll call Garner, Goode, Weller, Rynders, Roberts  and Turpin voted “Aye”. Motion carried. 

17. Roberts motioned and Goode seconded to approve the board member conference  expenses. Upon roll call Goode, Weller, Rynders, Roberts, Garner and Turpin voted “Aye”.  Motion carried. (See Exhibit No. 6 attached to the Official Minutes) 

18. Roberts motioned and Weller seconded to approve applying for the property tax relief  grant. Upon roll call Weller, Rynders, Roberts, Garner, Goode and Turpin voted “Aye”. Motion  carried. (See Exhibit No. 5 attached to the Official Minutes) 

19. Roberts motioned and Rynders seconded to adjourn at 8:10 p.m.
