Dallas City City Council met Feb. 9.
Here are the minutes provided by the council:
The Dallas City City Council held its regular meeting at 5:30 p.m. Mayor Kevin Six called the meeting to order with the following commissioners present: Carole McDowell, Peggy Newberry, Harold Northup Jr., and Greg Olson.
Others attending the meeting were Anne Thompson, Doris Harman, Joni McLees, and Kenny Foster.
A motion was made by Newberry, and 2nd by McDowell to accept the minutes of the January 26, 2022, meeting. McDowell, Newberry, Olson, and Six AYE. Northup ABSTAIN.
A motion was made by Olson, and 2nd by McDowell to pay bills. McDowell, Newberry, Northup, Olson, and Six AYE.
Joni McLees appeared on behalf of Access Systems, formerly J & S Electronics. She discussed the city's current computer network security system. Access Systems does not offer the current plan that the city had with J & S Electronics. The plan that they offer will cost the city $555 per month, but it will include more benefits, and the security system will be much better than the one the city's current contract provides. A motion was made by McDowell, and 2nd by Olson to sign a new contract with Access Systems for $555 per month for the city's computer network security system. McDowell, Newberry, Northup, Olson, and Six AYE.
Commissioner McDowell reported that the family of Kay Perry has contacted her about possibly placing a bench in Mrs. Perry's memory next to the Lincoln Rock at the end of Oak Street. The council agreed that this would be nice, but that the Perry Family needs to contact the Dallas City Park District to get their permission since this is located in one of their parks, and not city property.
Police Officer Kenny Foster gave the police report for the month of January. Both of the in-car laptops have gone down and have been sent to the shop to be repaired. A back up laptop is being used until they are fixed. The 2020 Explorer was taken to the body shop on February 4 for repairs. It is expected to take approximately one week to be completed.
Nicholas Hellyer has informed the council that he would be willing to mow the city cemetery again this year for $350 per mowing. A motion was made by Northup, and 2nd by Olson to hire Nicholas Hellyer to mow the city cemetery in 2022 for $350 per mowing. McDowell, Newberry, Northup, Olson, and Six AYE.
A motion was made by Northup, and 2nd by McDowell to adjourn the meeting. McDowell, Newberry, Northup, Olson, and Six AYE.
The meeting was adjourned at 6:15 p.m.
