City of Bushnell City Council met May 16.

Here are the minutes provided by the council:

Mayor Wilt called the meeting to order

The Pledge of Allegiance to the Flag was given.

Treasurer

*City Treasurer Betsy Rench stated she had sent the final ARPA report in, and there is a USDA report that needs to be done by the end of June.

Consent Agenda

Ald. Lorton made a motion to approve the consent agenda which includes.

1. Approval of Minutes from May 2, 2022

2. Accept April Financial/Treasurers Report.

Ald. Yocum seconded the motion. A roll call vote was taken with the results as follows:

Where upon Mayor Wilt declared the motion carried

Ad hoc (Mayor’s Report)

*Mayor Wilt thanked everyone for picking up the slack while she has been out with knee surgery. She is doing well and on her way to recovery.

*Jeep Blitz is the 26th, 27th & 28th of May, there will be fireworks uptown on the 27th.

*Graduation is May 22nd.

*Mayor Wilt reminded everyone to get their T-shirts for 61422 Day. The last day to turn in orders is the 23rd.

Personnel/Finance/Budget

*Next meeting Thursday, May 26th 4:00 @ City Hall

*Ald. Norton stated they had a few things to clear up with the IBEW and then those negotiations on the contracts would be complete.

Public Works

*Utility Supervisor Joe Fosdyck stated the ICC came and did a field test, they wrote us up for a few things but no fines were given.

*Greg Fulkerson with TEST stated chemical cost have gone up 30%, and trucking cost are up too.

*Fulkerson also stated the water plant need a new 8” preflush valve and a 4” safety valve.

*Street Superintendent David Raymond reported they are working on 3 service line leaks.

Police/Liquor/ESDA

*Minutes from 5/11/2022 meeting

*Jeff Rench with ESDA talked about the weird weather last week, he said the storm siren will go off if the weather doesn’t look good or there is a threat in the area.

Discuss resident notification protocols for City Work

*Ald. Webb wanted to know if there was some way, we could get the news of water shut offs, boil orders and such out to the public. We do put it on Facebook and tell the Radio stations.

She was wondering if we could put it out on Everbridge, Jeff Rench is going to look into that.

Real Estate/Parks/Recreation

*Pastor David Hughes and Pastor Howard Ross were in attendance and would like to have community VBS – June 5-9th, 5:30 – 8:00 @ the East Park. The theme would be Art & creativity. They would also like to have Community Church services on June 12th, July 3rd, and Aug. 7th @ the East Park at 10:00 a.m. The council agreed with a general consensus.

Engineering Report

*Greg Ryckaert with IMEG will be taking over for Megan Crook.

*Ryckaert stated the contract was signed and ready to go on the sidewalk project.

*Ald. Lorton went to Peoria to receive the Public Works Project 2022 award for the Davis street project.

MAEDCO

*Executive Director Kim Pierce reported that the Back to Business program was over.

*Pierce stated there will be a new Health Care clinic from Graham Hospital coming to Macomb.

*Pierce stated the Farmington Kitchen Cook plant is closing.

Economic Development

*Next meeting Monday, May 23, 2022 @ 4:00 at the City Hall.

*Ald. Allen reported they have already sold over 80 T-shirts for 61422 day,

The last day to order will be Monday 23rd.

Attorney’s Report/Ordinances & Resolutions

*Nothing to report

Ald. Lorton made a motion at 6:15 to enter into Executive Session for a) Appointment, employment, compensation, discipline, performance or dismissal of an employee of the public body or legal counsel for the public body, pursuant to Sec. 2 © (1) of the Opens Meetings Act. Ald. Yocum seconded the motion. A roll call vote was taken with the results as follows:

Ald. Norton “aye”      Ald. Yocum “aye”

Where upon Mayor Wilt declared the motion carried
