Rep. Davidsmeyer: 'Always have a great time at the Jersey County 4–H Auction.'

Rep. C.D. Davidsmeyer (R-Jacksonville) paid a visit to the Jersey County 4-H Auction and expressed appreciation Tuesday on Facebook for all the hard work the young participants demonstrate. Davidsmeyer ran unopposed in the June 28 Republican Primary for the 100th District.

"Always have a great time at the Jersey County 4–H Auction. I love seeing all of the hard work that the kids put in to their animals and projects!" he said in a Facebook post.

On a heated issue, Davidsmeyer also took to social media to comment on abortion.

"Gov. Pritzker is calling a special session to waste hundreds of thousands of dollars on the issue of abortion, only to score political points," he said in June. "The Democrats have already over-legislated on this issue, including making taxpayers fund elective abortions and taking away a parent's right to know that their minor child is making a life-altering decision!"

Davidsmeyer is involved with many other issues, including aid to Ukraine. In April, he cheered a colleague, Rep. Lindsey LaPointe (D-Chicago) as the chief sponsor of a bill to help Ukraine, which was also backed by 30 representatives, both Democrat and Republican.

"Many of you know that when I stand up and speak on the House floor, most often I am speaking in opposition to a bill. Some may see it more as a slap in the face because I'm very straightforward in how I talk," Davidsmeyer said.

"Today I'm here not as a slap in the face but as a pat on the back for the work that you've done on this bill, Rep. LaPointe. It is good to see that when good legislation can be made better, we can pull it from the record, not take an immediate vote, and come back with an even better bill," he said.

"I hope this will be a lesson to this body on how we can better serve our constituents together," Davidsmeyer said, adding "I really appreciate your willingness to pull it from a vote in the exec committee and come back with an amendment that would fix the bill and make it stronger for the Ukrainian people. Thank you."
