Jacksonville has unveiled the city's brand new logo, which is aimed at showing unity in the community and showcasing the area as a great place for travelers, businesses and residents.
State Sen. Steve McClure (R-Springfield) attended the unveiling and cheered the new logo.
"I was in Jacksonville Wednesday night to attend the unveiling of the new Jacksonville brand logo. It looks fantastic," McClure wrote Friday in a Facebook post.
The logo incorporates the city's history as a manufacturing hub in its design. The Journal Courier described the logo as "each part of the logo has a specific significance," and "each version shares the same typeface and half-star icon."
McClure also visited Jerseyville prior to the logo unveiling o help celebrate a new program at Liberty Village of Jerseyville called, "Memory Lane - Fitness for the Mind." He shared the facility's Facebook post from the ribbon-cutting.
In June, a bill McClure championed was signed into law. It allowed Department of Children and Family Services employees to carry pepper spray for protection and established a training program to teach employees how to use it in emergencies. In a statement, McClure said, "Frontline DCFS workers face dangerous situations far too often as they work to protect the vulnerable children of Illinois."
