City of Bushnell City Council met Aug. 15.

Here are the minutes provided by the council:

Mayor Wilt called the meeting to order                                                                       

The Pledge of Allegiance to the Flag was given.

Treasurer

*City Treasurer Betsy Rench stated that Deputy Clerk Mary Brown has emailed Myers & Myers about this years’ upcoming audit.

Consent Agenda

Ald. Lorton made a motion to approve the consent agenda which includes.

1. Approval of Minutes from August 1, 2022

2. Accept July/Financial/Treasurers Report.

Ald. Coates seconded the motion. A roll call vote was taken with the results as follows:

Ald. Coates “aye”     Ald. Allen “aye”

Ald. Norton “aye”      Ald. Lorton “aye”

Ald. Yocum “aye”

Where upon Mayor Wilt declared the motion carried

Ad hoc (Mayor’s Report)

*Mayor Wilt thanked Street Superintendent David Raymond and his crew, and Northern McDonough County Township crew for getting the roads oiled and chipped.

*Mayor Wilt thanked everyone in council for helping out while she was out for surgery.

Personnel/Finance/Budget

*Next meeting 8/25/2022 4:00 @ City Hall

Public Works

*Utility Supervisor Joe Fosdyck stated there would be gas welders coming next week to replace Valves at the elementary school.

*Fosdyck also suggested that the sidewalk in front of the Utility Office needed replaced.

Police/Liquor/ESDA

*Minutes from 8/10/2022 meeting

Ald. Lorton made a motion to approve a special liquor license for the Fall Festival on 8/26 & 8/27.

Ald. Coates seconded the motion. A roll call vote was taken with the results as follows:

Ald. Norton Abstain     Ald. Lorton “aye”

Ald. Yocum “aye”        Ald. Coates “aye”

Ald. Allen “aye”           Mayor Wilt “aye”

Where upon Mayor Wilt declared the motion carried.

Real Estate/Parks/Recreation

*Ald. Coates reported that they would be finishing the section of the sidewalk

On Hail Street this week and would finish after the Fall Festival.

*Ald. Coates stated they needed new covers for the thermostats at the Rec. Center, the old ones have all been broken.

Engineering Report

* Engineer Greg Ryckaert stated they are close to having the water tower ready to bid out for painting.

Economic Development

*Nothing to report

Attorney’s Report/Ordinances & Resolutions

*The City property the council is wanting to sell must be put out for bid for 3 weeks before they can sell.

Ald. Lorton made a motion to put a Notice of Sale in the paper for the next 3 weeks. Ald. Yocum seconded the motion. A roll call vote was taken with the results as follows:

Ald. Yocum “aye      Ald. Coates “aye”

Ald. Allen “aye”        Ald. Norton “aye”

Ald. Lorton “aye”

Where upon Mayor Wilt declared the motion carried.

Ald. Allen made a motion to adjourn.
