City of Pittsfield City Council met Nov. 15.

Here are the minutes provided by the council:

The regular meeting of the City Council of the City of Pittsfield, Pike County, Illinois, was held on Tuesday, November 15, 2022 at 6:00 p.m. The meeting was held in the Council Room at the Pittsfield City all at 215 N Monroe Street. The following officers were present: Mayor Gary Mendenhall, City Clerk Ann Moffit, and Alderman Bill Grimsley, Kevin Ketchum, Chris Little, Robert Ritchart, Beth White, Robert Wilson, and Kevin Wombles. Paul Lennon was absent.

Mayor Mendenhall presided.

Alderman Ketchum moved to approve November 1, 2022 city council minutes.

Alderwoman White seconded the motion.

Roll Call: Yea: Grimsley, Ketchum, Little, Ritchart, White, Wilson, Wombles (7)

Nay: NONE (0)

Present: None (0)

The motion carried.

Mayor’s Announcements:

Mayor was out of town to visit his new grandson and Mayor Announcements are limited this week.

Mayor noted that Todd Scranton, our new Street and Alley Superintendent was in attendance, and welcomed him to his first Council meeting.

Alderman Wombles moved to approve October, 2022 Treasurer’s Report.

Alderman Ritchart seconded the motion.

Nay: NONE (0)

Present: None (0)

The motion carried.

Alderman Ritchart moved to approve the Alderman Salary be $350.00 per month for all alderman effective May 1, 2023

Alderman Grimsley seconded the motion.

The motion carried.

Alderman Ritchart moved to approve the closure of the Lake Pittsfield Campground on November 21, 2022.

Alderwoman White seconded the motion.

The motion carried.

Alderman Ketchum moved to approve Full-Time employee Christmas Bonus’ in the amount of $350.00.

Alderman Wilson seconded the motion.

Alderwoman White moved to host an Employee Holiday Party.

Alderman Little seconded the motion.

Kevin Ketchum reported that the Ordinance Committee met to discuss several issues and will direct

Attorney Hollahan to prepare model ordinances to present to council.

Alderman Ritchart moved to pay bills as stated by City Clerk.

Alderman White seconded the motion.

New Business:

Mayor Mendenhall asked the Personnel Committee to submit any changes to the Employee Handbook and changes will be made for council to review.

Alderman Ritchart commended the Public Works Department on the tree removal and street completion on Fayette Street.

Alderwoman White noted that she is very pleased with all of the projects that are happening in the City.

Alderman Ketchum asked for an update on the Lagoon. Tom Reinhardt stated that his intent is for this to be completed by spring.

Alderman Wombles stated that Fayette Street milling and paving have been completed, milling is done on the North side of town. We did have to go thicker on Fayette Street and that caused us to go over budget. We also milled and paved Illinois Street from Fayette to Washington. He also noted that the airport tree removal is coming along nicely.

Alderman Little stated that Barry Fire Department lost a 50 year member, Louis Hoyt.

Attorney Hollahan has recorded the Oak Hill Drive Street Extension.

Tom Reinhardt would like Street and Alley Committee to meet to discuss MFT so that the estimates can be submitted the first of the year.

Tom Reinhardt has been working with CASCO on crack sealing.

Mayor commended the Public Works Department on all of the projects that they are working on.

Mayor stated that the Industrial Arts class is working on bases for signs at Lowry and King Park.

Mayor noted that the equipment arrived today and the well project and that should begin soon.

Alderwoman White moved to adjourn this meeting at 6:27 p.m.
