City of Greenville City Council met Jan. 17.

Here are the minutes provided by the council:

Following the Executive Order issued by Governor Pritzker and with the surge in COVID Omicron variant, it has been determined by Mayor Barber that this public meeting be held both in-person and by remote participation.

The Special Council meeting was called to order on January 17, 2023 at 4:00 PM by Mayor George Barber.

1. ROLL CALL

Council Present: Mayor George Barber, Council Member Ivan Estevez, Council Member Kyle Littlefield, and Council Member Lisa Stephens

Council Absent: Council Member Bill Carpenter

Staff Present: City Manager Jo Hollenkamp, City Clerk Jody Weiss

Public Present: Dan Shoman

2. PLEDGE OF ALLEGIANCE

3. PRESENTATION BY DAN SCHOMON

3.1. Dan Shoman, lobbyist for Greenville, discussed the grants that have been successful, such as the 1.7 MM Downtown Plaza Grant and the 750K EPA Water Plant. He is trying to get more grants and hopes to hear something soon on those.

Estevez thanked him for his efforts. Littlefield said the plaza is a game changer for us. Stephens appreciates Shoman's leadership. Barber stated it's all about relationships, and Shoman and his team can connect the city with people who can really help us. Shoman's team is very accessible, too. Littlefield added the Water Plant Grant will help keep water prices for residents.

6.1. Renewal of agreement with Dan Shomon

Motion by Kyle Littlefield, seconded by Lisa Stephens, Motion to renew the agreement with Dan Shomon through December 31, 2023.

RESULT: Carried

AYES: George Barber, Ivan Estevez, Kyle Littlefield, and Lisa Stephens ABSENT: Bill Carpenter

6.2. Move into executive session for personnel and possible litigation

Motion by Ivan Estevez, seconded by Lisa Stephens, Motion to move into executive session per 5ILCS 2(c)(1) Personnel, (11) Litigation at 4:16 PM

RESULT: Carried

SECONDER: Lisa Stephens

AYES: George Barber, Ivan Estevez, Kyle Littlefield, and Lisa Stephens ABSENT: Bill Carpenter

7. EXECUTIVE SESSION

7.1. Discussion of Personnel Goals

7.3. Move back into open session

Motion by Kyle Littlefield, seconded by Lisa Stephens, Motion to move back into open session at 5:07 PM.
