Carthage Elementary School District 317 Board of Education met May 17.

Here are the minutes provided by the board:

The special meeting of the Carthage E.S.D. #317 Board of Education was called to order at 6:00 p.m. by Board Vice-President Dillon Darbyshire.

Roll call: Jacob Murphy/present; Luke Burling/absent; Stephanie Fitch/present; Dillon Darbyshire/present; Sean Dickerson/present; Linda Housewright/present.

The Pledge of Allegiance was recited by all in attendance.

It was moved by Mr. Murphy and seconded by Mr. Dickerson to enter into executive session at 6:02 p.m. for the purpose of discussing a person to fill a public office. Roll Call: Mr. Murphy/yes; Mr. Burling/absent; Mrs. Fitch/yes; Mr. Darbyshire/yes; Mr. Dickerson/yes; Mrs. Housewright/yes. Motion caried 5-0.

It was moved by Mrs. Housewright and seconded by Mr. Murphy to exit executive session at 7:20 p.m. Roll Call: Mr. Murphy/yes; Mr. Burling/absent; Mrs. Fitch/yes; Mr. Darbyshire/yes; Mr. Dickerson/yes; Mrs. Housewright/yes. Motion caried 5-0.

It was moved by Mr. Murphy and seconded by Mr. Dickerson to approve Derrick Nelson as Board Member, to fill the vacancy created by Jason Gunning’s resignation, with the term ending April 2025.

The Oath of Office was read aloud by Mr. Nelson.

It was moved by Mr. Murphy and seconded by Mrs. Housewright to adjourn the meeting at 7:25 p.m. Roll Call: Mr. Murphy/yes; Mr. Burling/absent; Mrs. Fitch/yes; Mr. Darbyshire/yes; Mr. Dickerson/yes; Mrs. Housewright/yes; Mr. Nelson/yes. Motion caried 6-0.
