City of Bushnell City Council met Aug. 21.

Here are the minutes provided by the council:

Pro Tem Mayor Norton called the meeting to order

The Pledge of Allegiance to the Flag was given.

Roll Call

Trent is new to town and runs a business raising tropical fish for whole sale.

Treasurer

*City Treasurer Betsy Rench stated that her and the Mayor met with the auditor to go over

The audit. The audit went well and Myers & Myers will be coming back next year.

Consent Agenda

Ald. Yocum made a motion to approve the consent agenda which includes.

1. Approval of Minutes from August 7, 2023

2. Accept July Financial/Treasurers Report.

Ald. Webb seconded the motion. A roll call vote was taken with the results as follows:

Ald. Coates absent      Ald. Yocum “aye”

Ald. Webb “aye”           Ald. Allen “aye”

Ald. Havens “aye”        Ald. Burkholder “aye”

Ald. Norton abstain      Ald. Baker “aye”

Where upon Mayor Wilt declared the motion carried.

Ad hoc (Mayor’s Report)

*The first meeting in September will be on Tuesday, September 5, 2023

*They will start on the Water tower painting on Sept. 1, 2023, during the time they are working on it the City asks everyone to please conserve water.

*The Grant application for the Washington Street sewer got turned down, so the City will have to go through the Application process all over.

Personnel/Finance/Budget

*Next meeting August 31, 2023 @ City Hall 4:00

Public Works

*Minutes from 8/17/2023 meeting

Ald. Yocum made a motion to pass Ordinance 2023-3 IPEA Sales Agreement. Ald. Baker seconded the motion. A roll call vote was taken with the results as follows:

Ald. Webb “aye”            Ald. Yocum “aye”

Ald. Havens “aye”         Ald. Allen “aye”

Ald. Norton abstain       Ald. Baker “aye”

Ald. Burkholder “aye” Ald. Coates absent

Where upon Pro tem Mayor Norton declared the motion carried.

*The committee will talk with some area farmers to see about using their water tanks as a reserve for when the Water Tower is getting painted.

Police/Liquor/ESDA

*Minutes from the 8/177/2023 meeting.

*Ald. Baker stated his committee will be making a list of Unsafe/abandoned properties and start contacting home owners.

*Liquor License was approved for the Fall Festival

*The new Police truck is being lettered this week.

*Jeff Rench from ESDA stated the Governor has signed off on the Storm Damage Declaration.

Real Estate/Parks/Recreation

*Next meeting will be 8/29/2023 4:00 @ the Rec. Center.

*The IDOT permit was approved for the Splash Park.

Engineering Report

*Nothing to report

Economic Development

*Chris Martin will be cleaning the Depot on the 1st & 3rd Thursday every month.

Attorney’s Report/Ordinances & Resolutions

*City Attorney Nick Tinsman stated he has the revised fence Ordinance ready and it can be put on the next agenda.

Ald. Baker made a motion to enter into Executive Session at 6:14 for a)Appointment, employment, compensation, discipline, performance or dismissal of an employee of the public body or legal counsel for the public body, pursuant to Sec. 2© (1) of the Open Meetings Act. Ald. Yocum seconded the motion. A roll call vote was taken with the results as follows:

Ald. Havens “aye”           Ald. Burkholder “aye”

Ald. Norton abstain         Ald. Baker “aye”

Ald. Yocum “aye”            Ald. Coates absent

Ald. Allen “aye” Ald. Webb “aye”

Where upon Pro Tem Norton declared the motion carried.

Ald. Baker made a motion at 7:10 to return to regular session. Ald. Yocum seconded the motion. A roll call vote was taken with the results as follows:

Ald. Norton abstain Ald. Baker “aye”

Ald. Allen “aye” Ald.       Webb “aye”

Ald. Allen made a motion to adjourn.
