State Representative Norine Hammond (R-Macomb) and the Canton Police Department have announced that they will be hosting a Prescription Drug Drop Off event on Saturday, November 4. The event, which aims to promote the safe disposal of old prescription drugs, will be held from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the Canton Police Department located at Canton City Hall.
In a statement, Rep. Hammond encouraged area residents to take advantage of the opportunity to safely remove old prescription drugs from their homes. She emphasized the importance of preventing these drugs from being used improperly and keeping them out of the local water supply. Rep. Hammond expressed her gratitude to the Canton Police Department for partnering with her to organize this free event for the benefit of the community.
Local residents are urged to dispose of any unused, unwanted, or expired prescription drugs. To participate in the event, medications should be placed in a sealed plastic bag and dropped off inside the main lobby of Canton City Hall, where a drop box will be available for collection.
The event will accept a variety of medications in tablet, capsule, and other solid forms. Additionally, patches, vaping devices, and cartridges will be accepted, as long as the lithium batteries have been removed. However, it is important to note that liquids, including intravenous solutions, as well as syringes and needles, will not be accepted.
