McDonough County Building & Grounds/Elms Committee met Nov. 14.
Here are the minutes provided by the committee:
The Elms/Building and Grounds Committee met on Tuesday, November 14, 2023 at 7:00 p.m. The meeting was held at the McDonough County Courthouse, Courtroom 201. Committee Members in attendance included, Chair Larry Aurelio, Vice Chair Terra Litchfield, Dave Cortelyou, Mike Cox, Vicky Kipling, Clayton Murphy, and Dana Walker. Member Dustin Berg was absent. Others in attendance included Brian Frericks, Chad Wilson, Patrick Stout, Elms Administrator Jeff Howd, County Chair Scott Schwerer, and County Clerk Gretchen DeJaynes.
Chair Larry Aurelio called the meeting to order at 7:00 p.m.
Review and Approval of October 10, 2023 Minutes
Member Litchfield moved with a second by Member Walker to approve the minutes as submitted. Motion carried on a voice vote.
Farm Report
None
Administrator’s Report
Administrator Jeff Howd gave the report. Census is at 71, with 7 being Medicare, 46 being Medicaid and, 15 private-pay. Medicare currently owes $153,003.28. There were 13 admissions, and 11 discharges.
A former Elms employee inquired as to what the hiring and firing policy is.
Discuss Room Rate Increases
Member Walker moved with a second by Member Kipling to increase the daily private room rate by $1.00. Motion carried on a voice vote.
Financial Report
Member Litchfield moved with a second by Member Cox to approve the October, 2023 Financial Reports. Motion carried on a voice vote.
Elms Claims
Member Cox moved with a second by Member Kipling to approve the Elm’s claims as submitted. Motion carried with a roll call vote of 7 yeas, 0 nays, 0 vacant and 1 absent.
Macomb Public Building Commission
None.
McDonough County Maintenance Directors Report
Brian Frericks with QFBEnergy presented an energy review report to the Committee regarding renewing the gas and electric rates. He also discussed putting in solar panels for the Elms.
Chad Wilson gave the report. Wilson discussed putting in water fountains on each floor of the Courthouse.
Member Litchfield moved with a second by Member Kipling to approve the purchase of three water fountains and an additional self-serve water dispenser with disposable cups. Motion carried on a voice vote.
Approve Clock and Bell Strikers Restoration
Member Cox moved with a second by Member Cortelyou to approve the Clock and Bell Strikers Restoration. Motion carried on a voice vote.
Building and Grounds Claims
Member Cox moved with a second by Member Litchfield to approve the October, 2023 Building and Grounds Claims. Motion carried on a voice vote.
A discussion was held regarding Wilson’s comp time. Member Litchfield moved with a second by Member Murphy to pay out Wilson’s comp time. Motion carried on a voice vote.
