McDonough County Board Law & Legal Committee met Jan. 8.

Here are the minutes provided by the committee:

The Law & Legal Committee held its monthly meeting on Monday, January 8, 2024 at 7:00 p.m. The meeting was held at the McDonough County Courthouse, Courtroom 201. Committee Members present included Committee Chair Joe Erlandson, Vice Chair Ken Durkin, Eric Blakeley, Letha Clark, Travis Hiel, and Terra Litchfield. Members Eric Chapman, and Michael Kirby were absent. Other persons in attendance were Dave Schaab, Deborah Cousins, Sheriff Nick Petitgout, County Chair Scott Schwerer, and Deputy Clerk Stacey Alexander.

Chair Erlandson called the meeting to order at 7:00 p.m.

Review & Approve December 4, 2023 Minutes

Member Durkin moved with a second by Member Clark to approve the minutes as submitted. Motion carried on a voice vote.

Waste Management Update

Dave Schaab gave the report.

Tri-County Recycling

Report received and filed.

Veteran’s Assistance and Van Report

Report received and filed. Seven Veterans were given assistance in December. Total assistance amounted to $1,551.00.

Sheriff’s Report

Sheriff Nick Petitgout gave the report. Sheriff Petitgout informed the Committee that he is looking in to a company to rewrite policies for the Deputies and Jailers, he will have more information next month.

Assessor’s Office Update

Assessor Deborah Cousins gave the report.

Claims Review and Approval

Member Blakeley moved with a second by Member Hiel to approve the claims as submitted. Motion carried on a voice vote.

None.

Adjourn

Member Hiel moved with a second by Member Blakeley to adjourn the meeting at 7:18 p.m. Motion carried on a voice vote.
