McDonough County Board Law & Legal Committee met Feb. 5.

The Law & Legal Committee held its monthly meeting on Monday, February 5, 2024 at 7:00 p.m. The meeting was held at the McDonough County Courthouse, Courtroom 201. Committee Members present included Committee Chair Joe Erlandson, Vice Chair Ken Durkin, Eric Blakeley, Letha Clark, Travis Hiel, Michael Kirby, and Terra Litchfield. Member Eric Chapman was absent. Other persons in attendance were Patrick Stout, Aaron Allen, Ric Smart, Deborah Cousins, Sheriff Nick Petitgout, County Chair Scott Schwerer, and County Clerk Gretchen DeJaynes.
Chair Erlandson called the meeting to order at 7:00 p.m.
Review & Approve January 8, 2024 Minutes
Member Durkin moved with a second by Member Blakeley to approve the minutes as submitted. Motion carried on a voice vote.
Waste Management Update
Report received and filed.
Tri-County Recycling
Aaron Allen gave the report.
Veteran’s Assistance and Van Report
Ric Smart gave the report. Seven Veterans were given assistance in January. Total assistance amounted to $1,551.00.
Sheriff’s Report
Sheriff Nick Petitgout gave the report.
Assessor’s Office Update
Assessor Deborah Cousins gave the report.
Claims Review and Approval
Member Clark moved with a second by Member Litchfield to approve the claims as submitted. Motion carried on a voice vote.

Executive Session
Board Member Litchfield moved with a second by Board Member Clark to Enter into Executive Session at 7:30 p.m. pursuant to Chapter 5 Illinois Compiled Statutes Section 120/2 (C) (1) and (2). Motion carried with a roll call vote of 7 yeas, 0 nays, 0 pass, and 1 absent.
Board Member Litchfield moved with a second by Board Member Clark to Exit Executive Session at 7:55 p.m. with no action taken. Motion carried with a roll call vote of 7 yeas, 0 nays, 0 pass and 1 absent.

Adjourn
Member Litchfield moved with a second by Member Hiel to adjourn the meeting at 7:56 p.m. Motion carried on a voice vote.
