Bushnell-Prairie City Community Unit School District 170 Board of Education met Feb. 21.

Here are the minutes provided by the board:

The Board of Education met in a Regular Meeting on Wednesday, February 21, 2024 at 6:00 p.m. in the High School LRC with the following members present: McCleery, Miller, Croxton, Webb, Thompson, McGrew and Spangler Absent: None

Public Comments: None

FFA Students, Reagan McKim and Harper Hess demonstrated their FFA Creed Speaking.

The Board reviewed the Consent Agenda.

Motion by Member McGrew, seconded by Member Spangler to approve the Consent Agenda which contained the following: Minutes of the January 17, 2024, Regular and Executive Session Meetings, Payment of Bills, Treasurer's Report and Investments, Student Activity Accounts, Manual and Void Checks and Imprest Ledgers. After a roll call vote motion carried as follows: Aye: McCleery, Miller, Webb, Thompson, McGrew and Spangler. Nay: None. Abstain: Croxton

Bob Gound, Superintendent, reported on: B-PC Education Foundation meeting on February 7, 2024 and upcoming meeting on March 6th. Student Handbook formatting changes.

The Board reviewed four requests for homeschooled students in our District to take

Summer Driver's Education.

Motion by Member Croxton, seconded by Member Miller to approve the four student requests to take Summer Driver's Education Classes. After a roll call vote motion carried as follows: Aye: McCleery, Miller, Croxton, Webb, Thompson, McGrew and Spangler. Nay: None

Superintendent Gound discussed Substitute Teacher daily pay.

Motion by Member Spangler, seconded by Member McGrew to increase Substitute Teacher daily pay from $115.00 to $120.00 beginning the 2024-25 School Year. After a roll call vote motion carried as follows: Aye: McCleery, Miller, Webb, Thompson, McGrew, Spangler. Nay: None Abstain: Croxton

Motion by Member Miller, seconded by Member Thompson to approve the Personnel

Report as follows: Retirement: Krista Waller at the end of the 2027-28 School Year.

Resignations: Tiffany Churchill as Elementary Teacher, effective at the end of the 2023-24

School Year. Jordan Monson as High School Assistant Football Coach, effective immediately, Lauren Settles as High School Basketball Cheer Coach, effective immediately. Employment:

Abigail Schaeffer as Elementary Teacher effective the 2024-25 School Year. After a roll call vote motion carried as follows: Aye: McCleery, Miller, Croxton, Webb, Thompson, McGrew and Spangler. Nay: None

Superintendent Gound reviewed the 2024-25 proposed School Calendar.

Motion by Member McGrew, seconded by Member Spangler to adjourn to Executive Session to discuss the appointment, employment, compensation, discipline, performance or dismissal of specific employees, probable litigation against District and student discipline. After a roll call vote motion carried as follows: Aye: McCleery, Miller, Croxton, Webb, Thompson, McGrew and Spangler Nay: None

Motion by Member Miller, seconded by Member Croxton to adjourn Executive Session and return to Open Session. After a voice vote, all in favor, motion carried.

Motion by Member Miller, seconded by Member Croxton to approve the contract extension of Superintendent Robert Gound through June 30, 2029. After a roll call vote motion carried as follows: Aye: McCleery, Miller, Croxton, Webb, Thompson and Spangler. Nay: McGrew

Motion by Member Croxton, seconded by Member Spangler to adjourn the Meeting.

After a voice vote, all in favor, motion carried.
