McDonough County Building & Grounds/Elms Committee met March 12.

Here are the minutes provided by the committee:

The Elms/Building and Grounds Committee met on Tuesday, March 12, 2024 at 7:00 p.m. The meeting was held at the McDonough County Courthouse, Courtroom 201. Committee Members in attendance included, Chair Larry Aurelio, Vice Chair Terra Litchfield, Mike Cox, Vicky Kipling, Clayton Murphy, and Dana Walker. Members Dustin Berg and Dave Cortelyou were absent. Others in attendance included Patrick Stout, Elms Administrator Jeff Howd, Sheriff Nick Petitgout, Brian Frericks, Mitchell Takes, County Chair Scott Schwerer, and Deputy Clerk Stacey Alexander.

Chair Larry Aurelio called the meeting to order at 7:00 p.m.

Review and Approval of February 13, 2024 Minutes

Member Litchfield moved with a second by Member Kipling to approve the minutes as submitted. Motion carried on a voice vote.

Farm Report

County Chair Schwerer said that the ground is very dry.

Administrator’s Report

Census is at 65, with 8 being Medicare, 36 being Medicaid and, 20 private-pay. Medicare currently owes $218,768.01. There were 39 admissions, and 39 discharges.

Financial Report

Member Litchfield moved with a second by Member Murphy to approve the February, 2024 Financial Reports. Motion carried on a voice vote.

Elms Claims

Member Cox moved with a second by Member Litchfield to approve the Elm’s claims as submitted. Motion carried with a roll call vote of 6 yeas, 0 nays, 0 vacant and 2 absent.

Macomb Public Building Commission

None

McDonough County Maintenance Directors Report

County Chair Schwerer gave the report. The new water fountain has been installed on the 1st floor of the Courthouse, the clock tower is finished, and the law library renovation is in progress. Sheriff Petitgout informed the Committee that they need to look in to hiring a fulltime maintenance employee or a part time janitor.

Building and Grounds Claims

Member Walker moved with a second by Member Cox to approve the February, 2024 Building and Grounds Claims. Motion carried on a voice vote.

Brian Frericks with QCP

Mitchell Takes with QCP provided a hand out regarding energy rates for the Elms and went over it. Member Walker thinks we should do it. Howd does not believe that it is a good idea and thinks that we should get other bids, he is going to put some numbers together.

Other

County Chair Schwerer said that due to what the Sheriff said he will do some checking on professional cleaning businesses.
