City of Bushnell City Council met May 20.

CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF BUSHNELL, ILLINOIS

COUNTY OF MCDONOUGH, ILLINOIS, HELD AT CITY HALL

MONDAY MAY 20, 2024 5:30 p.m.

Mayor Wilt called the meeting to order

The Pledge of Allegiance to the Flag was given.

Guest – Jay Havens voiced his concerns over the water that is backing up on Murphy’s land, due to the

Tiles being plugged up at Lake Lawn. Public Works committee will look into this situation.

Carol Holland – The Backpack 5k will be held on August 24, 2024, bikes will start at 7:30 a.m.

Runners & walkers at 8:00. Carol stated this program helped 26 families and 70 children last Year.

Treasurer

*Nothing to report

Consent Agenda

Ald. Yocum made a motion to approve the consent agenda which includes.

1. Approval of Minutes from May 6, 2024

2. Accept April Financial/Treasurer’s report

Ald. Havens seconded the motion. A roll call vote was taken with the results as follows:

Where upon Mayor Wilt declared the motion carried.

Ad hoc (Mayor’s Report)

*Mayor Wilt thanked all the City Council and the Utility Board for staying steadfast and helping our new neighbors, Marshalltown Hammer, make the move to Bushnell! A Huge thank you to Kim Pierce for her dogged determination to make this happen.

*May 19-25 is National EMS Week – Please remember to thank them when you can.

*May 28th is Friends Feeding Friends at the CCC

Personnel/Finance/Budget

*Next meeting May 30th, 2024 @ City Hall 4:00

Public Works

*Working on a plan for the East Lagoon

*The committee will talk about the Flooding issue at Lake Lawn at their next meeting.

*Next meeting May 29th, 2024 at 4:00

Police/Liquor/ESDA

*The cameras and body cams have been ordered.

*Police Chief Hood stated they have sent out 120 ordinance letters.

*Jeff Rench with ESDA stated there is severe weather headed our way.

Parks/Recreation/Real Estate

*The committee met with Team Reid Charities and KGS Electric about the Splash Park. The tentative date to bore under the highway, weather permitting, is May 24, 2024.

*The team aims for the water main work from the Brockway building/Help & Hope Food Pantry to the Splash Park site will be completed around May 30 or 31st, 2024.

Engineering Report

*Lead Service Line Inventory – continue to make submittals as necessary for grant reimbursement.

*West Treatment Plant – will extend land application permit and investigate sludge removaloptions.

Economic Development

*The committee is working on the fundraiser for the Depot that will be June 22, 2024 at the East Park. The Rec Center will be the back up location in case of bad weather.

*Next meeting 5/28/2024 4:30 at the Depot.

Attorney’s Report/Ordinances & Resolutions

*Nothing to report

Ald. Allen made a motion to adjourn
