McDonough County Building & Grounds/Elms Committee met June 11.

Here are the minutes provided by the committee:

The Elms/Building and Grounds Committee met on Tuesday, June 11, 2024 at 7:00 p.m. The meeting was held at the McDonough County Courthouse, Courtroom 201. Committee Members in attendance included, Chair Larry Aurelio, Vice Chair Terra Litchfield, Dustin Berg, Dave Cortelyou, Mike Cox, Clayton Murphy, and Dana Walker. Member Vicky Kipling was absent. Others in attendance included Chad Wilson, Patrick Stout, Elms Administrator Jeff Howd, County Chair Scott Schwerer, and County Board Secretary Sara Kluthe.

Chair Larry Aurelio called the meeting to order at 7:00 p.m.

Review and Approval of May 14, 2024 Minutes

Member Litchfield moved with a second by Member Walker to approve the minutes as submitted. Motion carried on a voice vote.

Farm Report

County Chair Schwerer said that we need some rain.

Administrator’s Report

Census is at 63, with 8 being Medicare, 40 being Medicaid, 14 private-pay, and 1 managed care with rug. Medicare currently owes $256,952.62. There were 30 admissions, and 31 discharges. Howd informed the Committee that he is still running ads for nurses and aides, there are several out on FMLA which are all health related and not injuries. They show a loss for May which is due to having a 3rd payroll, they had to pay for their audit and they had a few other miscellaneous expenses. He is working on trying to increase the census, he is hopeful that some of those out on FMLA will be back to work in the near future, they have hired some new employees but they have lost a few too.

Financial Report

Member Cox moved with a second by Member Walker to approve the May, 2024 Financial Reports. Motion carried on a voice vote.

Elms Claims

Member Litchfield moved with a second by Member Cortelyou to approve the Elm’s claims as submitted. Motion carried with a roll call vote of 7 yeas, 0 nays, 0 vacant and 1 absent.

Macomb Public Building Commission

County Chair Schwerer stated that he has nothing to report as he was not able to attend the meeting.

McDonough County Maintenance Directors Report

Chad Wilson gave the report. Wilson updated the Committee on the progress at the Courthouse, the ground wire for the bell tower has been ran, the steps have been power washed, excavation has started on the south side of the building, all of the plaster in the accounting office and the chimney have been removed, and they are about half way done with the masonry work on the north side of the building. They will be placing signs on the fence that will say what doors are open. Wilson also stated that CAD is working with Klingner regarding the roofs on the porches.

Member Litchfield would like the timesheets to be checked over, the amount of comp time that she has calculated does not match what is on the accumulated sheet.

Building and Grounds Claims

Member Cox moved with a second by Member Murphy to approve the May, 2024 Building and Grounds Claims. Motion carried on a voice vote.

None.

Public Comment

Member Litchfield announced to the Committee and Howd that her mother is currently in the Elms and that she is very thankful to have a local nursing home. They are very pleased with the care that she is getting, and she is impressed with how much Howd is involved with the patients.

County Board Chair Comments

County Chair Schwerer informed the Committee that beginning in July the Committee meetings will now be held in the Law Library, it is on the 3rd floor of the Courthouse.

Adjourn

Member Berg moved with a second by Member Cortelyou to adjourn the meeting at 7:20 p.m. Motion carried on a voice vote.
