ROLL CALL: Answering present were: Michael Oldenettel – Chairman, Joe Hughs, Aaron Scott, Casey Collins, Brad Cors and Nick Little; Deputy City Clerk Sue Thomas. Absent from the meeting was Kerris Osborn and City Clerk Angela Salyer. Also, in attendance were City Attorney Dan Beard and Community Development Director Brian Nyberg. A quorum was declared.
MINUTES: Motion was made by Cors, seconded by Hughs, to approve the June 5, 2024 Zoning Board of Appeals Meeting Minutes as presented in advance. By voice vote, motion carried.
DCC Thomas read Item #3 on the Agenda. Review petition for variance to property located at 23 North Grand in regards to building a shed. Property is zoned R-1. Application submitted by Robert Joy. Mr. Joy will be putting a 10 x 16 or 12 x 16 prebuilt shed on his property. CDD Nyberg has been to the property. All of the neighbors have received information concerning this shed and there have been no objections.
Chair Oldenettel asked for further discussion, or if there was anyone in attendance to speak in favor of, or opposition to, this request and there were none. Motion was made by Scott, seconded by Cors, to approve this request.
ROLL CALL: 6 Yeas; 0 Nays; 1 Absent (Osborn)
Motion carried 6-0-1.
DCC Thomas read Item #4 on the Agenda. Review petition for variance to property located at 523 West State Street regarding a set back of a garage. Property is zoned R-1. Application submitted by Tim and Colleen Flinn. Mr. Flinn is renovating the house at 523 West State Street and would like to put a garage in the back along Morgan Street. The ordinance states the garage must be 25 feet from the street and Mr. Flinn is asking for approval of 20 feet from the street. There is a structure next door that is 20 feet from the street. CDD Nyberg has been to the property and has inspected the site. There is another ordinance that states any structures must be 5 feet from the property line. CDD Nyberg believes that 5 feet from the property line will be very close to where Mr. Flinn is wanting to place the garage.
Chair Oldenettel asked for further discussion, or if there was anyone in attendance to speak in favor of, or opposition to this request and there were none. Motion was made by Little, seconded by Scott to approve this request.
ROLL CALL: 6 Yeas; 0 Nays; 1 Absent (Osborn)
Motion carried 6-0-1.
OTHER BUSINESS: No discussion.
