The Western Illinois University men's soccer team faced Northern Kentucky on Sunday afternoon, aiming to extend their winning streak. The Leathernecks were defeated 3-0 by the Norse, with goals scored in the 33rd, 49th, and 76th minutes.

Despite leading in total shots with a count of 17-14, Western Illinois had fewer shots on goal, managing only three compared to Northern Kentucky's nine. Keeper Micah Ramirez made six saves during the match. However, the NKU keeper successfully blocked attempts from Xavier Gagnon, Jimmy Baars, and Tyler Philpott.

In the second half, Western Illinois earned five corner kicks but failed to convert any into goals. They also drew significantly more fouls than Northern Kentucky, with 15 free kicks compared to NKU's seven.

The Leathernecks will take a week-long break before traveling to Spokane, Washington to face Gonzaga on September 15th.
