Western Illinois golfer Baptiste Labeyrie has been recognized as the Ohio Valley Conference (OVC) Player of the Week, as announced by the league on Thursday morning. This accolade marks the first golf weekly honor for both Western Illinois and Labeyrie since they joined the conference.

Labeyrie's performance at the recent tournament was noteworthy. He finished tied for 45th place with a total score of 225 (+9). In his first round, he encountered two bogeys on the front nine and began the back nine with two more bogeys before achieving his first birdie, concluding the round with a score of 77 (+5). The second round saw an improvement; Labeyrie had only one bogey on the front nine and secured a birdie on hole five. He added two more birdies along with three bogeys in the back nine, ending that round at 73 (+1). During the third round, after starting with +5 on the front nine, Labeyrie responded strongly with three birdies on holes 10, 12, and 14. He completed this round shooting a 33 (-3) from the back nine and ended with a score of 75 (+3).

The Western Illinois men's golf team is scheduled to compete next at the WIU Intercollegiate at TPC Deere Run from April 5-6.
