The Western Illinois women's tennis team is set to compete in two matches this weekend. The Leathernecks will host Northern Illinois in Galesburg on Friday at noon. The Huskies currently hold a 3-4 record, having won against Northern Iowa with a score of 6-1 last Friday but lost to Iowa and DePaul with scores of 2-5 and 0-4, respectively. Historically, the Leathernecks have not secured a win against Northern Illinois, standing at an all-time record of 0-11.

Following the match against Northern Illinois, Western Illinois will travel to Bradley for a Saturday morning match at 10 a.m. Bradley's team has a record of 1-5 after losing to SIU-E with a score of 6-1 last Saturday. The upcoming match will take place at Parkside Fitness in Pekin, where WIU aims to improve its all-time record of 0-4 against Bradley.

In their previous outings, the Leathernecks were defeated by St. Thomas and Northern Iowa with scores of 6-1 and 7-0, respectively. Paige Grice was the only player from Western Illinois to secure a victory last week, winning her No. 2 singles match against St. Thomas.

Grice continues to lead the team alongside freshman Anna-Evelina Trush, each boasting two singles wins this season. In doubles play, Grice partners with Lara Rossetto Diniz de Souza; together they have achieved two victories in the No. 1 spot.

After this weekend's matches, the Leathernecks will have a break until March 6 when they are scheduled to host St. Louis University in Macomb.
