Western Illinois narrowly defeated by Tennessee State in OVC tennis match

The Western Illinois tennis team faced a narrow defeat in their Ohio Valley Conference match against Tennessee State, with the final score standing at 4-3. The Leathernecks managed to split the singles matches but were unable to secure any wins in doubles, which proved decisive.

In singles competition, Paige Grice, Aina Cortina-Pou, and Agatha Carbonell each achieved victories for Western Illinois. Grice secured a win in the No. 2 singles position with scores of 6-3 and 6-4. Cortina-Pou battled through three sets to claim victory at No. 3 singles with scores of 6-7, 6-1, and 6-4. Carbonell also emerged victorious after three sets at No. 4 singles, finishing with scores of 7-6, 3-6, and 6-3.

Following this loss, Western Illinois's record stands at two wins and eleven losses overall and zero wins to two losses within the conference. Their next match is scheduled for Friday against Eastern Illinois.
