Western Illinois women's tennis team loses matches against St. Thomas and Northern Iowa

The Western Illinois women's tennis team faced defeats in their recent matches against St. Thomas and Northern Iowa over the weekend. On Friday, they played against former Summit League rival St. Thomas, where they lost 6-1. Paige Grice was the standout player for Western Illinois, securing the team's only win with a straight-set victory. She took the first set 6-3 and concluded the match with a tiebreaker win in the second set at 7-6 (8-6).

The following day, Western Illinois went up against Northern Iowa but were unable to secure any wins, falling 7-0. In singles competition, Paige Grice won her first set 6-3 but lost in the final two sets of her match. Aina Cortina-Pou also extended her match to three sets but did not manage to clinch a victory. In doubles play, Northern Iowa swept all three matches.

Western Illinois is scheduled to host Northern Illinois on Friday and will then face Bradley on Saturday.
