As part of our ongoing commitment to provide comprehensive and accurate news coverage on local governmental affairs, we at West Central Reporter have submitted a request under the Illinois Freedom of Information Act, 5 ILCS 140. The request was sent to the Hamilton City Council in Illinois seeking specific details about all council members.
The requested information includes the name, title, year of appointment, term length (2 or 4 years), and term expiry date for each council member. We believe that this information is crucial for maintaining transparency and holding public institutions accountable.
As a media organization involved in gathering and reporting news to the public, access to such public records is essential for us to fulfill our professional responsibilities. We also requested a fee waiver as part of our role as media professionals disseminating information to the public.
