A Freedom of Information Act (FOIA) request was submitted to the City of Pittsfield regarding unpaid parking violations on October 28, 2024. The request was sent by us at West Central Reporter, a media organization committed to providing comprehensive and accurate news coverage on local governmental affairs.
The FOIA request seeks access to a list of all parking violations currently unpaid within the city. The specifics requested include the name of the offender, their address, the amount due for each violation, the date when each violation occurred, and the total amount due.
As part of our journalistic duties at West Central Reporter, we are involved in gathering and reporting news to the public. Access to such public records is essential for us to fulfill our professional responsibilities which include holding public institutions accountable and providing transparency to the public.
In line with our role in disseminating information to the public, we have requested a fee waiver as a media professional. We await a response from the City of Pittsfield regarding this matter.
