A Freedom of Information Act (FOIA) request was sent to the Carrollton City Council regarding detailed information on all council members on October 15, 2024. The request was made by us at West Central Reporter, a media organization committed to comprehensive and accurate news coverage on local governmental affairs.
The FOIA request specifically sought records that include the names, titles, years of appointment, terms (whether 2 or 4 years), and term expiry dates of all council members. These details are vital for our ongoing reporting efforts aimed at promoting transparency in local government and holding public institutions accountable.
As a media organization involved in gathering and disseminating news to the public, we believe access to such public records is crucial for fulfilling our professional responsibilities. We have requested these records preferably in an electronic format for ease of analysis and reporting.
We have also stated our eligibility for a fee waiver as a media professional given our role in disseminating information to the public. This is part of our ongoing commitment to provide comprehensive coverage of local governmental affairs and ensure accountability in public institutions.
