FOIA Request to Macomb City Council Regarding Details of Council Members on October 15, 2024.
As part of our commitment to providing comprehensive and accurate news coverage on local governmental affairs, we at West Central Reporter have sent a Freedom of Information Act (FOIA) request to the Macomb City Council in Illinois. The request was made under the Illinois Freedom of Information Act, 5 ILCS 140.
The specific information requested includes a list of all council members with the following details: their names, titles, years appointed, term lengths (2 or 4 years), and term expiry dates. This information is crucial for us as it will help us in our reporting and analysis of local government activities.
As a media organization, access to public records is essential for us to fulfill our professional responsibilities. These include holding public institutions accountable and providing transparency to the public. Given our role in disseminating information, we believe we are eligible for a fee waiver as a media professional.
