FOIA Request to City of Carrollton Regarding Building Permits on October 30, 2024.
As part of our ongoing commitment to provide comprehensive and accurate news coverage on local governmental affairs, we at West Central Reporter have sent a Freedom of Information Act (FOIA) request to the City of Carrollton in Illinois.
Our request specifically pertains to records of all new residential and commercial building permits issued from January 1, 2023, up until the present date. We are seeking detailed information including the type of permit, date issued, fee paid, requester's name, address, and contractor name.
In addition to this, we have also requested for a list of all active residential and commercial building permits along with their current status. The details we are looking for in these active permits mirror those sought in the new permits - type of permit, date issued, fee paid, requester's name, address, and contractor name.
As a media organization dedicated to holding public institutions accountable and providing transparency to the public through our reporting efforts, access to such public records is essential. We believe that as media professionals involved in gathering and disseminating information to the public we are eligible for a fee waiver under the Illinois Freedom of Information Act.
