FOIA Request to City Of Mount Sterling Regarding Building Permits on October 30, 2024.
In a continued effort to promote transparency and accountability in local government affairs, we at West Central Reporter have submitted a Freedom of Information Act (FOIA) request to the City of Mount Sterling. The request, dated October 30, 2024, seeks comprehensive data on both new and active residential and commercial building permits issued by the city from January 1, 2023, up until the present day.
The requested information includes specific details such as the type of permit issued, date of issuance, fee paid for the permit, requester's name or organization, address where work is permitted to occur, and contractor's name. This information will provide a detailed overview of construction activity within the city during this period.
As a media organization committed to providing comprehensive and accurate news coverage on local governmental affairs, we believe access to public records is essential for fulfilling our professional responsibilities. This includes holding public institutions accountable and providing transparency to the public. Given our role in disseminating information to the public, we have also requested a fee waiver as part of our FOIA application.
