FOIA Request to City of Rushville Regarding Building Permits on October 30, 2024.
As a part of our commitment to providing comprehensive and accurate news coverage on local governmental affairs, we at West Central Reporter have sent a Freedom of Information Act (FOIA) request to the City of Rushville. The request was sent on October 30, 2024, and seeks access to records related to both new and active residential and commercial building permits issued from January 1, 2023, up until the present date.
Specifically, we are seeking detailed information about each permit including the type of permit, date it was issued, fee paid for the permit, who requested the permit, the address associated with the permit and the name of the contractor involved. This data is sought for all new permits issued during this period as well as all currently active permits.
As a media organization dedicated to transparency in public institutions and accountability in government actions, we believe that access to these public records is essential for us to fulfill our professional responsibilities. Given our role in disseminating information to the public, we have also requested a fee waiver as a media professional under the Illinois Freedom of Information Act.
We will continue our efforts in holding public institutions accountable and providing transparency to our readers. We look forward to sharing more insights from these records once they are made available.
