McDonough County Board Human Resources and Planning Committee met Oct. 10.

The Human Resources and Planning Committee met on Thursday, October 10, 2024 at 7:00 p.m. The meeting was held at the McDonough County Courthouse, 3rd Floor, Law Library. Committee Members in attendance included Chair Letha Clark, Vice Chair Vicky Kipling, Dustin Berg, George Dixon, Jerry Raby, and Dana Walker. Members Dave Nissen and Michael Kirby were absent. Others in attendance included Animal Control Officer Zach Welch, Patrick Stout, Bonnie Skripps, John Vigezzi, County Chair Scott Schwerer, and County Board Secretary Sara Kluthe.
Chair Letha Clark called the meeting to order at 7:00 p.m.
Review and Approve Minutes from September 12, 2024
Member Kipling moved with a second by Member Raby to approve the minutes as submitted. Motion carried on a voice vote.
Animal Control Report
Animal Control Officer, Zach Welch gave the report. There was 25 dogs and 22 cats in the shelter at the end of September. Welch informed the Committee that they have already had a lot of adoptions this month, and that they received a large donation of dog food. A discussion was held regarding the Pet Population Fund and how it receives funding.
Humane Society
Bonnie Skripps informed the Committee that they currently have a half price special on all black dogs, the adoption fee is $72.00 instead of $145.00. The Brix Challenge is going on now through October 31st, this fundraiser usually raises half of the funding for their budget.

GIS Update
Member Michael Kirby had forwarded an email that he received from Chad Sperry. The email included aerial photos of the work being done on the Courthouse.
Approval of HR & Planning Claims
Member Dixon moved with a second by Member Kipling to approve the HR & Planning claims as submitted. Motion carried on a voice vote.

County Board Chair Comments
County Chair Schwerer informed the Committee that the West steps on the Courthouse were poured today.

Member Walker moved with a second by Member Raby to adjourn the meeting at 7:19 p.m. Motion carried on a voice vote.
