FOIA Request to Calhoun County Sheriff's Office Regarding 2024 Arrest Records on January 7, 2025.
In a recent move towards transparency and accountability, we at West Central Reporter have requested the arrest records for the year 2024 from the Calhoun County Sheriff's Office. The request was made under the Illinois Freedom of Information Act, 5 ILCS 140.
We have asked for these records in an electronic format and our request includes a list of all arrests from January 1, 2024 till December 31, 2024. The fields we are interested in include the arrestee name, arrest date, arrestee gender, arrestee race, arrestee's date of birth and the crime committed.
As a media organization dedicated to providing comprehensive and accurate news coverage on local governmental affairs, access to public records is essential for us to fulfill our professional responsibilities. This includes holding public institutions accountable and providing transparency to the public.
Given our role in disseminating information, we believe we are eligible for a fee waiver as a media professional. We await a response from the Calhoun County Sheriff's Office and will keep our readers updated on any developments.
