McDonough County Board Human Resources and Planning Committee met Dec. 12.

Here are the minutes provided by the committee:

The Human Resources and Planning Committee met on Thursday, December 12, 2024 at 7:00 p.m. The meeting was held at the McDonough County Courthouse, 3rd Floor, Law Library. Committee Members in attendance included Chair Ken Durkin, Vice Chair Vicky Kipling, Dave Bartlett, Clayton Cook, Ryan Litchfield, and Dana Walker. Members Dustin Berg, and Jerry Raby were absent. Others in attendance included Amy Betz, Animal Control Officer Malique Reardon,

Dr. Karen Blakeley, County Chair Eric Blakeley, Deputy Clerk Emily Flynn, and County Clerk Jeremy Benson. Chair Ken Durkin called the meeting to order at 7:00 p.m.

Review and Approve Minutes from November 14, 2024

Member Kipling moved with a second by Member Walker to approve the minutes as submitted. Motion carried on a voice vote.

Animal Control Report

Animal Control Officer, Malique Reardon gave the report. There was 21 dogs and 26 cats in the shelter at the end of November. Chair Durkin suggests that all Committee members visit the animal shelter.

Humane Society

They will be having a big fundraiser on March 1, 2025.

Policies and Procedures

None.

GIS Update

None.

Approval of HR & Planning Claims

Member Walker moved with a second by Member Cook to approve the HR & Planning claims as submitted. Motion carried on a voice vote.

Other Items as Needed

Chair Durkin discussed the Committee duties and encouraged the new members to do some research. He also discussed policies for the animal shelter.

Public Comment

None.

County Board Chair Comments

Chair Blakeley informed the Committee that he received a call on a possible lead for an animal shelter building, he will have more information at a later date. Dr Blakeley warned against getting a larger facility as they don’t want to take on more animals.

Member Kipling moved with a second by Member Litchfield to adjourn the meeting at 7:28 p.m. Motion carried on a voice vote.
