FOIA Request to Pike County Clerk Regarding 2025 Consolidated Elections Candidates on January 14, 2025.
In our ongoing commitment to provide comprehensive and accurate news coverage on local governmental affairs, we at West Central Reporter have sent a request under the Illinois Freedom of Information Act, 5 ILCS 140, to the Pike County Clerk. The request was made for records in electronic format that list the candidates running for the upcoming 2025 Consolidated Elections.
The specific fields requested for each candidate include their name, the date they filed their candidacy, and the office they are running for. This information is crucial in our role as media professionals to ensure transparency and hold public institutions accountable.
As members of the media engaged in gathering and reporting news to the public, we believe access to such public records is essential. Given our role in disseminating information, we have also requested a fee waiver as part of this process.
