The Western Illinois women's tennis team faced a challenging match against Creighton University, ultimately falling short in their efforts. The Leathernecks were unable to secure victories in doubles play, losing two matches and leaving the third unfinished due to a clinch. Nour Gueblaoui and Chloé Routier experienced a competitive match at No. 1 but ended with a 2-6 loss. Lara Souza and Anna Trush also struggled, finishing with a 3-6 defeat. The pair of Paige Grice and Mana Fawcett did not complete their match, resulting in Creighton earning the point.

In singles play, Creighton secured wins at No. 1, No. 2, No. 4, and No. 6 positions. Routier was defeated at No. 1 with scores of 1-6, 2-6, while Souza faced a tough opponent at No. 2 and lost with scores of 2-6, 3-6. Fawcett engaged in an intense three-set match but narrowly lost with scores of 6-2, 3-6, and 6-7(3). Trush also faced defeat at the No. 6 spot with scores of 4-6, 4-6.

Despite these setbacks, there were positive outcomes for Western Illinois as Grice achieved victory in a three-set battle at No. 3 with final scores of 4-6, 6-4, and 6-3. Gueblaoui concluded on a high note for the Leathernecks by winning her match at the No. 5 position with scores of 7-6(5), 3-6, and an exciting tiebreaker score of 10-8.

Looking ahead, Western Illinois will travel to St. Louis to compete against St. Louis University on February 21.
