WIU tennis team faces defeat against Mizzou Tigers

The Western Illinois University (WIU) tennis team faced a challenging match against the University of Missouri's Mizzou Tigers. The Leathernecks were unable to secure a victory in their recent encounter.

In doubles play, WIU lost two matches while the third remained unfinished due to clinch rules. Nour Gueblaoui and Chloé Routier competed at the No. 1 spot but were defeated with a score of 2-6. At No. 2, Paige Grice and Mana Fawcett also faced defeat, ending with a score of 1-6. Lara Souza and Richardlyne Francois showed potential but did not complete their match, leaving the score at 3-4, which gave Mizzou an opening point.

During singles competition, Grice was the first to finish at No. 3, losing with scores of 1-6 and 1-6. Fawcett played next at No. 4 but suffered a loss with scores of 3-6 and 1-6. Routier put up a strong effort at No. 1 but ultimately lost with scores of 3-6 and 4-6. Gueblaoui's match at No. 6 remained unfinished as she trailed with a score of 0-4 in favor of Mizzou.

Looking ahead, WIU Tennis will continue their road trip with upcoming matches against Milwaukee on March 1 and Chicago State on March 2.
