Western Illinois University sophomore softball player, Payton Brown, received recognition as the Co-Ohio Valley Conference Player of the Week. This acknowledgment followed her remarkable performances during the recent set of games against UT Martin.

Hailing from Taylor Ridge, Illinois, Brown impressed with an 8-for-14 performance at the plate, scoring five runs, hitting two doubles, and recording eight RBIs. In one notable game against UT Martin on March 29, Brown hit two home runs, including a walk-off, showcasing her ability to perform in high-pressure situations.

Her performances throughout the weekend included reaching personal bests for the season with three hits, two home runs, three runs scored, five RBIs, stealing one base, and making seven assists. Her contribution was significant in helping the Leathernecks achieve success on the field.

The team will return to action this weekend at Mary McKee Stadium in Macomb, Illinois, to play against Tennessee State on April 5.

"Her award-winning week highlights her combination of power, precision, and patience at the plate," commented her team on Brown’s performance.
