Western Illinois University's football program has achieved a significant milestone by securing the top-ranked recruiting class in the Big South-Ohio Valley Conference for the 2025 season. This accomplishment, recognized by 247Sports.com, marks a positive development for the Leathernecks under the leadership of Head Coach Joe Davis.

Davis, who oversees the team, emphasized the dedication involved in the recruitment process. "Our staff worked hard to secure a very talented group of student athletes from the class of 2025," said Coach Davis. He also noted the program's enthusiasm as they prepare for the upcoming season: "Optimism is high within our program and we're excited to begin our summer program in preparation for a competitive fall schedule!"

Aiming to strengthen their team's performance, the Leathernecks have targeted key areas, notably on both the offensive and defensive lines. Coach Davis highlighted these enhancements: "We certainly feel that we've improved the talent of our roster. When we went into this thing, we knew we needed to be bigger and longer, especially on the offensive and defensive lines. We've definitely done that."

As the Leathernecks head into their second season in the Big South-OVC Football Conference, it is evident that they are committed to reinvigorating their football program.
