City of Hamilton City Council met May 19.
Here are the minutes provided by the council:
1. ROLL CALL
The Hamilton City Council met in regular session 7:00pm at the Hamilton City Hall. Attending were Mayor Bocephus Casey, Aldermen Tommy Buckert, Andrew Asbury, Brandon Wilson, Steve Schlatter, Beverly Boone and Debbie Summers, Clerk Michelle Dorethy, Public Works Director Ryan Brotherton and Police Chief Mike Boley
2. PLEDGE OF ALLEGIANCE
Mayor Casey led everyone in the Pledge of Allegiance.
3. MINUTES OF MAY 5, 2025
Asbury made a motion to approve the minutes of the May 5th meeting. Boone seconded the motion. Roll was called with Asbury, Buckert, Wilson, Summers, and Boone voting aye. Schlatter abstained.
Motion carried.

4. MAYOR’S COMMENTS
Mayor Casey presented the Mayoral and Council Committee Appointments and asked for approval. Buckert made a motion to approve the Mayoral Appointments as presented. Schlatter seconded the motion. Roll was called with Buckert, Wilson, Summers, Schlatter, Boone, and Asbury voting aye.
Motion carried.

Asbury made a motion to approve the Council Committee Appointments. Buckert seconded the motion. Roll was called with Wilson, Summers, Schlatter, Boone, Asbury and Buckert voting aye.

5. WELCOME VISITORS
Mayor Casey welcomed Geoffrey Thompson with Klingner and Associates. Geoffrey reported they are currently working with the City on the following projects:
Motor Fuel Tax and noted it has been submitted to IDOT
Non-Motor Fuel Tax work – Hwy 136 to 6th Street pavement on Broadway
Water Source Intake
Parking Lot for the new police building
6. FINANCE
a. Committee Report
Summers gave a report of the Finance Committee meeting that was held on May 12th.
b. Treasurer Report
Summers made a motion to approve the Treasurer’s Report. Schlatter seconded the motion. Roll was called with Summers, Schlatter, Boone, Asbury, Buckert and Wilson voting aye.
Motion carried.

7. HEALTH & SAFETY
Asbury reported the Health and Safety Committee will hold a meeting on Wednesday, May 28th at 5:30pm.
Asbury reported that we needed to get a quote for a mini split for the Animal Control Building. Peters Heating and Air will be called for a quote.
Chief Boley reported that the tasers we had received with grant funds were in. He noted that Officer Andrew Abbott will be our Taser Instructor, and he is currently being trained. Boley also reported that MTC will be here on May 28th to install their fiber drop. Everything is coming along nicely. He thanked Council Person Buckert and Mayor Casey for the extra work they have put in to preparing the new building.

8. BUILDING & GROUNDS, PERMITS & ZONING:
a. Committee Report
Buckert gave a report on the Building and Grounds Committee that was held on May 12th.
Attorney Hartzell reported that the Resolution to advertise for the sale of the old Police Department building is ready for the next Council meeting agenda.
b. Building/Demolition Permits
Buckert reported there were no building permits to approve.
9. PUBLIC WORKS
a. Committee Report
Buckert reported there were no building permits to approve.
b. Purchase new CL17 - $7,814.96
Schlatter made a motion to approve the purchase of a new CL17 for a cost of $7,814.96. Wilson seconded the motion. Roll was called with Schlatter, Boone, Asbury, Buckert, Wilson and Summers voting aye.

10. ECONOMIC & TOURISM
Schlatter made a motion to approve the purchase of a new CL17 for a cost of $7,814.96. Wilson seconded the motion. Roll was called with Schlatter, Boone, Asbury, Buckert, Wilson and Summers voting aye.

11. ADJOURNMENT
Summers made a motion to adjourn the meeting at 7:45 pm. Buckert seconded the motion. Roll was called with Buckert, Wilson, Summers, Schlatter, Boone and Asbury voting aye.
