City of Bushnell City Council met June 2.

Here are the minutes provided by the council:

Mayor Norton called the meeting to order

The Pledge of Allegiance to the Flag was given.

*City Treasurer Betsy Rench stated she had talked with WIRC about grants for speeding signs, And there are grants out there. There may be grants available to take down uninhabitable Houses.

Consent Agenda

Ald. Havens made a motion to approve the consent agenda which includes.

Approval of Minutes from May 19, 2025

Approve April Financial report

Approve and Pay May Bills

Ald. Burkholder seconded the motion. A roll call vote was taken with the results as follows:

Ad hoc (Mayor’s Report)

*Mayor Norton read a Thank you note sent from previous Mayor Wilt

*Archies invited the council to come for a soft opening Monday night

Personnel/Finance/Budget

Ald. Havens made a motion to give all part time employees not governed by bargaining unit a 6% increase retroactive to May 1, 2025. Ald. Allen seconded the motion. A roll call vote was taken with the results as follows:

Public Works

Ald. Burkholder made a motion to grant GFL the contract for City Wide Waste and Recycling. Ald. Havens seconded the motion. A roll call vote was taken with the results as follows:

Police/Liquor/ESDA

*The committee recommended to approve Side by Sides on City streets. An ordinance Will have to drawn up with the fees and regulations.

*Police Chief Hood would like to hire a Part-time police officer

Parks/Recreation/Real Estate

*Nothing to report

Engineering Report

Ald. Havens made a motion to grant Laverdiere Construction the contract for the Washington Street Sanitary Sewer project for the price of $999,960.00. Ald. Promisson seconded the motion. A roll call vote was taken with the results as follows:

*City Engineer Megan Crook from IMEG stated the Sledge dredging is mostly done.

*Crook stated they will start putting door hangers out this week for the Lead Line Service Inventory

Economic Development

*Ald. Allen stated they will start working on the kitchen at the Depot in late fall.

MAEDCO

*Archies will have a ribbon cutting ceremony Wed., June 4 @ 10:30

*Shoe Sensation in Macomb will be having a hiring event at the Hampton Inn on June 10th-11th from 10:00 a.m. to 7:00 p.m.

Attorney’s Report/Ordinances & Resolutions

Ald. Havens made a motion at 6:00 to enter into Executive Session for a) Appointment, employment, compensation, discipline, performance or dismissal of an employee of the public body or legal counsel for the public body, pursuant to Sec. 2(c) (1) of the Open Meetings Act. Ald. Allen seconded the motion. A roll call vote was taken with the results as follows:
