McDonough County Board Road & Bridge Committee met Aug. 7.

Here are the minutes provided by the committee:

The McDonough County Road and Bridge Committee held their monthly meeting on Thursday, August 7, 2025 at 7:00 P.M. The Meeting was held at the McDonough County Courthouse, 3rd Floor, Law Library. Committee Members present included Chair Craig Foster, Vice Chair Dave Cortelyou, Eric Chapman, Mike Cox, Travis Hiel, Jerry Raby, Jarad Royer, and Terry Thompson. Other persons in attendance: Rick Walker, County Chair Eric Blakeley, and Deputy Clerk Kyah Beck.

Chair Foster called the meeting to order at 7:00 P.M.

Review Minutes from July, 2025

Member Thompson moved with a second by Member Raby to approve the minutes as submitted. Motion carried on a voice vote.

Miscellaneous Project Updates

There are plans to rebuild the Star Bridge, which runs over Camp Creek, using a bridge funding grant. One of the goals of the reconstruction is to widen the bridge to 34 feet to better accommodate the volume of farming equipment passing through.

At the last meeting, the Committee discussed the accident that occurred on the St. Francis blacktop. Plans are underway to repave 3.9 miles of that road, and cost estimates are currently being discussed.

21-00112-11-BR Funding Agreement Resolution

This resolution pertains to the Star Bridge reconstruction. Funding has been placed. The McDonough County Engineer has reviewed the plans and contract and recommends approval of the project. This will move on for approval at the County Board meeting.

Member Cox moved with a second by Member Raby to approve the Funding Agreement Resolution. Motion carried on a voice vote.

Solar Farm Ordinance Language and Jurisdiction Discussion

There is some language in the Solar Farm Ordinance that needs to be revised, particularly regarding where fees should be directed. This change will help ensure that payments and charges are tracked more accurately and efficiently.

Teamster Contract

A meeting is to be held about re-instating the contract.

County Engineer Position

This position is still open and available. There is a possible candidate for this position once they get done with their schooling.

Striping Resolution

Bids were received for centerline striping for various roads in McDonough County. This will move on to the County Board meeting for approval

Member Cox moved with a second by Member Chapman to approve the Striping Resolution. Motion carried on a voice vote.

Work Report

Report filed.

Claims Review and Approval

Member Chapman moved with a second by Member Raby to approve the claims submitted. Motion carried on a voice vote.

Public Comment

None.

County Chair Comments

Painting is still being done on the outside of the Courthouse. Budget meetings, as well as re-election is coming up.

Adjourn

Member Chapman moved with a second by Member Raby to adjourn the meeting at 8:00 p.m. Motion carried on a voice vote.
