Western Illinois cross country to compete at Gans Creek Classic

The Western Illinois University cross country team is set to compete in its third meet of the season at the Gans Creek Classic in Columbia, Missouri. The event will take place on Friday, September 26, starting at 6 a.m., and will feature several nationally ranked teams along with Ohio Valley Conference (OVC) programs such as Southeast Missouri, Southern Indiana, UT Martin, and Lindenwood.

In their previous outing at the Redbird Invite, the Leathernecks women's team finished sixth overall. Freshman Deana Hudson led her teammates in the 6K race with a time of 23:05.6, securing 23rd place. She was followed by Emma-Kate Watt (30th), Finley Hancock (33rd), Marissa Shute (34th), and Lily Patterson (35th). Ellie Eastman and Cassandra Brushaber also contributed strong performances for Western Illinois.

On the men's side at the Redbird Invite, three runners represented Western Illinois in the 8K event. Freshman Brody Harker finished first among his teammates with a time of 27:02.4 for 55th place. Evan Eberhart and sophomore Logan Rosas completed the course close behind.

The next scheduled competition for Western Illinois cross country is on Friday, October 3 at Notre Dame's Joe Piane Notre Dame Invite.
