Western Illinois women’s tennis wraps up fall at OVC Tournament

The Western Illinois University women's tennis team is set to finish its fall season at the Ohio Valley Conference (OVC) Tournament, which will take place on Friday and Saturday at the Wesselman Tennis Center in Evansville, Indiana.

Teams competing alongside Western Illinois include Southeast Missouri State (SEMO), Southern Illinois University Edwardsville (SIUE), Tennessee State, Little Rock, Tennessee Tech, Lindenwood, Morehead State, UT Martin, Eastern Illinois University (EIU), and the University of Southern Indiana (USI). This marks the third season for head coach Luke Ogren. In the previous year, the Leathernecks posted a 12-9 overall record.

Western Illinois returns 11 players from last year's roster. Among them are Richardlyne Francois and Nour Gueblaoui, who played as No. 1 and No. 2 singles respectively last season. Other returning athletes include Mana Fawcett, Aubrey Brumbaugh, Paige Grice, Denver Johnson, Gabriela Miteva, Nadezhda Petkova, Lara Rossetto Diniz de Souza, Chloe Routier, and Anna-Evelina Trush. The team also welcomes Maarja Leinstrep from Talinn, Estonia as a freshman addition.
