Western Illinois and Eastern Illinois men’s soccer teams finish match in draw

Western Illinois University and Eastern Illinois University played to a 1–1 draw in men's soccer on Saturday at John MacKenzie Alumni Field. The match saw Western Illinois take an early lead in the 11th minute when Liam Gainey scored with an assist from Henrry Abarca-Gonzalez. Eastern Illinois equalized in the 26th minute with a goal from Casey Welage.

Both teams created opportunities throughout the game, but neither side could break the deadlock after the first half. Western Illinois was outshot by Eastern Illinois, with a total of 17 shots to their six. Goalkeeper Micah Ramirez made six saves for Western Illinois, helping secure the tie.

With this result, Western Illinois' season record stands at 2-7-1 overall and 0-0-1 in league play. Eastern Illinois now holds a record of 1-4-2.
