Western Illinois University's men's soccer team ended its 2025 season after a 2–0 defeat to SIUE in the Ohio Valley Conference Quarterfinals at Harlen C. Hunter Stadium on Saturday.
SIUE took an early lead in the 11th minute when Ethan Hackenberg scored from a pass by Mathias Clausen. Hackenberg added a second goal for SIUE in the 57th minute with a penalty kick, securing the team's advantage for the remainder of the match.
In the second half, Western Illinois increased offensive pressure and outshot SIUE 6–3, but was unable to convert opportunities into goals. Xavier Gagnon led Western Illinois with three shots, including one on target. Goalkeeper Micah Ramirez made two saves during the game.
The Leathernecks' season concluded with this loss, following their qualification for the OVC Tournament which included a notable regular-season win over top-seeded Lindenwood.
