During a recent meeting of the Godfrey Climate Protection and Energy Efficiency Committee, Chairman Nate Keener provided an International Council for Local Environmental Initiatives (ICLEI) membership update.
Keener said Southern Illinois University-Edwardsville (SIUE) officials met with ICLEI officials, and that SIUE is working on a greenhouse-gases inventory for the village.
Keener put off an update on the sustainability plan until the next meeting.
Village Clerk Pam Whisler said she contacted Shred-It to talk about setting up a shredding day for the village in July and will report back at the next meeting with more information from the company on costs and available dates.
